Regarding physics of rigid bodies, there's actually more. Really, with the thrust coming from so far off the centre of mass, Endurance + Lander should have started somersaulting under-hand.Īh, at last I'm not the one bothered by this off-axis thrust.įirst: I loved the movie and still love it in spite of the minor remarks. Yay! Now my account should be old enough to post again. ![]() In contrast to the original link I gave, 1:36-1:39, it seems like the Endurance is anti-clockwise but only because we're seeing it from below. Yes I accounted for that but although the camera is below the plane we're still seeing it from above. It looks counter-clockwise initially because the camera is a few degrees "below" the plane of the pod ring But I would've worded that as coming from the left. As far as I can see though, the pods that are closest to the Lander are going from right to the further end of the Endurance to left to the Lander. But you might mean something different that I'm understanding when you say 'from the right'. The near pods on the Endurance are moving from the right in the initial POV.Īctually it seems v clear to me that they're coming from the left. I will clarify a couple things though just in case. Unfortunately I'm still so confused as it seems v clear to me. I'll agree with your first line in the sense that I also dont really know how to address this further without us viewing it in person at the same time. Yes, but TARS only opened one isolated section of the Lander (not Ranger). It also seems to me at 1:27 TARS opens the 'door' to the Ranger. Using the main engines of the lander to raise the velocity of the whole ship to escape the orbit. ![]() Stop the spin of Endurance by using the RCS thruster of the Lander which has a firm connection with the Endurance (though that connection might easily torque-snap, so Cooper had to do it oh so delicately.) They use a Lander (not a Ranger) to manually dock with the Endurance and then do two things: After the explosion the Endurance is totally dead in the water and out of any (remote) control. couldn't hinder Mann at taking over control of the Endurance. Mann took control of the Endurance before the explosion and disabled any remote control so that Cooper & Co. Don't be fooled because the viewing angle at the beginning is from slightly below, whereas the totale is from directly above.Ĭan anyone actually explain to me what's happening here though? Like, once docked the smaller ship (I believe its called Ranger 2) can control the Endurance but before docked it cant? In the first few seconds (6-13) they Endurance is shown spinning anti-clockwise,
